Benromach Distillery lies on the outskirts of Forres
by the Findhorn bay in the North of Speyside. The word ‘Benromach’ translates
into ‘Romach Hill’ which stand a few kilometres south of the distillery. In the early 90s its current
owners, the world famous
whisky merchants Gordon & MacPhail, started a five year total renovation by (even the stills were replaced for smaller ones). The first cask was signed by the HRH
Prince of Wales in 1998 and a visitor centre was opened in the old Drier House. In 2004
Benromach Traditional was launched, stored for 5 ½ years in Bourbon (80
percent) and Sherry casks (20 percent). Benromach also offer selected bottlings
from old casks produced before 1999.

The history of Benromach Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery
History of the distillery: Founded: 1898
by FW Brickham and Duncan McCallum. As
many of the distilleries in construction in the late 19th century the severe
depresseion in the whisky industry caused by the Pattison crash changed
everything. Production did not start until 1909 only to close again due to the
WW1. After the war the distillery was run by the Benromach Distillery Ltd, a
private company owned by several brewery companies. After a couple of
ownertransfers and renovations it was once again time to rest in 1983. In 1999,
almost 100 years after the distillery was founded, once again the spirit filled
the casks.
