If not the smallest – Edradour is one of the prettiest
and original ”farm” distilleries nestling in a pocket glen in the hills above
Pitlochry in the Southern Highlands. The stills are the smallest possible as
prescribed by Excise regulations and only a few casks are produced each day. The
whisky is hand made today as it has been for over 150 years by just three men. Much
of the equipment used at the distillery has remained unchanged. The distillery
did not get electricity until 1947.
